The short version
PageTidy checks only the web page you explicitly ask it to inspect. The check runs locally in your browser. The early preview does not send page content, results, or browsing activity to us or anyone else.
What we collect
The PageTidy early preview does not collect, store, sell, or transmit page content, browsing history, personal information, analytics, usage events, authentication information, or payment information.
What happens after installation
On first installation, PageTidy opens a packaged local welcome page with three usage instructions and an optional link to a packaged practice page. The practice page contains three planted examples and runs the same local scanner only after you click its practice button. Neither page inspects the active tab, collects browsing activity, or sends information anywhere. The welcome page does not open again when PageTidy is updated.
If you copy a summary
PageTidy writes the displayed findings to your local clipboard only after you click “Copy summary.” The copied text includes a short PageTidy source link so the person receiving it can run the same free check. You can edit or remove that line before sharing. PageTidy does not send, store, or receive the copied text.
If you contact support
If you click a feedback link, PageTidy opens an email draft addressed to support. The draft includes the checked page address and, when you choose feedback for a specific result, that result's title. The optional first-check draft includes the number of results shown and two empty prompts about what was useful or unclear. You can review, edit, or discard everything in the draft, and nothing is sent or recorded as a first check unless you choose to send it. If you do send an email, your email provider and ours will process your address and message so we can read and reply. We do not use support messages for advertising or sell them.
Why Chrome asks for permission
PageTidy uses Chrome's activeTab permission to access the current page only after you click “Check this page.” It uses the scripting permission to run the checking code on that page. PageTidy does not run continuously in the background.
Future changes
If a future version introduces optional accounts, payments, or analytics, this policy and the product will clearly explain what changes before any information is collected.
